During the 2024 AABC Birth Institute, Dele Ogunleye, MD, FACOG, was presented the 2024 AABC Collaborating Physician Award, recognizing his exceptional contributions to birth center care. He has been a steadfast advocate for birth centers, demonstrating a deep commitment to improving birth outcomes.

Since 2016, Ogunleye has served as a collaborating physician for The Birth Center of Bloomington Normal, Illinois. His influence extends beyond this single center, as he currently supports six birth centers across four states (The Birth Center of Bloomington Normal, Burr Ridge Birth Center, Birth Center of Chicago, Andaluz Waterbirth Center, Labor of Love Birth Center, and Ohio Birth Center) and is actively involved in the development of three more (North Carolina Birth Center, Indiana Birth Center West, and Indiana Birth Center North). This remarkable dedication is driven by his personal values and the mission of Birth Partners, INC., a company he co-founded to improve birth outcomes one birth center at a time.

Ogunleye’s impact extends beyond his direct clinical work. He is a vocal advocate for birth centers, engaging with policymakers, insurance companies, and hospital administrators to promote the benefits of midwifery care. His passion and commitment have inspired many to work towards a future with more midwifery-led birth centers.

The American Association of Birth Centers is honored to recognize Dele Ogunleye for his exceptional contributions to the field of midwifery and birth center care. His dedication, expertise, and advocacy have made a significant impact on the lives of countless families.
